Wool Huffing on the Hoof

Saturday afternoon our spinning group headed over to Windswept Farms to visit the Shetland Sheep! (Mike, Heather, and family too!) My loving husband was also able to go due to a canceled golf outing because of rain, which seemed ridiculous in the afternoon because it was beautiful outside! We had all sorts of good food, wonderful friends, fabulous location and hosts, and tons of fun with FIBER! Unfortunately my dreams of living on a farm were squashed that day since we discovered my Eric is allergic to something out there...sheep, hay, llama, fresh air, SOMETHING...I think the hope may still be alive for an angora bunny though, or maybe even an alpaca one day...but just maybe.

Anyway I have some pics of the day. Silly me I never checked the battery on my DSLR and of course it was dead when we got to the farm but the girl scout in me (actually I never was a girl scout but that's a funny story for another time) always carries a point and shoot in my purse! I didn't take too many different pics (just lots of the sheep standing in the field because, well that's what sheep do) but I just have to share the a couple!

The sheep and llamas in the pasture.

Me with a couple of the friendlier sheep!

Eric with Zinc who was getting a little TOO friendly!

Beer and Fiber! ALWAYS a good mix!!! Kat and Zinc in the foreground, Mike, Karen, Erica, Sandy and Eric in the back.

The new unnamed baby llama...he had arrive only the night before!

ZINC! (He was everyones favorite can you tell?!)

I don't know this sheep's name but I want her fiber! GORGEOUS! Isn't it funny how you look at fiber bearing animals differently when you are a spinner?
